ArtFest, Quail and Pheasant's Oh My!!!!

First, Got my confirmation for ArtFest a while back. I got all my first choice's. This is my third year of going and every year I have been lucky enough to get my first choice's. So I am really excited.

I will be in this order:

Anahata Katkin
Anne Bagby
Anne Bagby

I have always admired Anne Bagby's artwork and am so thrilled to be taking her classes. Can hardly wait.

Was greeted in my driveway the other morning by a covey of Quail. They are one of my favorite birds. They are so cute and I love to watch them. They seem to get so frantic sometimes running around in circles and all trying to stick together. Then the next morning in our front yard we had a pheasant and his hen. they were so beautiful...but were gone before I could get my camera out.

I have become obsessed with drawing these little black and white doodles lately. If I'm sitting watching TV I will just doodle one in my journal or a left over piece of watercolor paper. What to do with them? Who knows? this one is an 8X10

This one is in one of my journals:

And last but not least, here is a painting I did for a friends sister who is visiting from England. It is one of the first piece's I have had framed in years. Amazing how much framing costs....no wonder I do most of my work on canvas with the wrapped sides...

Ekk....I'm running late. Taking a Batik class today in town and I haven't gotten ready yet.
ta-ta for now

Terrible cold

I have had one of the worst cold's of my whole life. At one point I was ready to go to the emergency room as I could not stop coughing and could not breath. What a way to spend your holiday weekend....and then also out of work two extra days. I'm still not recovered yet sinus still really plugged up.

Here is a painting I did a while back of one of our kittens, well they really aren't kittens any longer they are over a year old now.

Here is a spread I did in a mother/daughter RR book....

Well back to nursing myself through this (hopefully) last phase of this horrible cold.

Heart breaking news

One of my best friends AL called last night on her way home from work. Her mother who has been battling breast cancer for what seems like forever has more in her lymph nodes under her arm. This will be her 3rd round of chemo in the battle. Why do bad things happen to good people? She is such a wonderful, friendly, amazingly giving woman and she does not deserve this happening to her. I just don’t understand why these things happen.

I found this poem in our little local weekly mailing advertisement after I hung up with AL and for some reason felt it fit ML.

If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Into his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.

Emily Dickinson

My heart is just breaking knowing the struggle that she is facing. I just hope that the support of her friends and family can keep her spirits up and keep her fighting this battle.
